Make it Work Monday
I kind of have an obsession with trench coats...it's kind of a problem! I have at least 5 trenches currently hanging in my closet, and 2 more lined up on my shopping wish list. Scratch that...3 on my shopping wish list, including the lovely coat above. That bow is so cute, and I NEED a stone colored trench, I really do. Also loving the contrast of the sweet trench with a structure tote in a fabulous orange! I kind of also have a thing for orange bags, but I'll save that for another post...
Happy Monday!

Inspired by...Thursday - Bar Carts
I love this bar cart. Bar carts fascinate me and I'm always drawn to them on blogs and publications. Each one is so different, yet the same. You can be snazzy or casual, chic or ultra-laid back, and I love each one. The once pictured above catches my eye for multiple reasons, the small and large wheels, the oval shape, and it doesn't hurt that there are more than one shots of the color turquoise infused in the mix. Love it!
Happy Thursday! Only one more shopping day til...Friday! :-)

Something Nice to Say...about a stomach bug?
This past weekend was a long, long weekend, in more ways than one. In addition to our country remembering the great work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I had an unfortunate and epic case of the stomach bug. Not fun. However, this blog is where I like to say nice things, so here goes:
First and foremost, I am the luckiest girl ever. No, not because I was sick, but because I had the best "nurse" ever in the form of my fiance. Poor guy. He saw and heard things this past weekend that I hope I never have to see or hear from him! To say I was in misery would be a huge understatement. And not knowing that a stomach bug was making the rounds, I assumed I had food poisoning. It certainly felt like some sort of poison had taken residence in my stomach. Saying the word "poison" kicks the worry factor up several notches, and I'm sorry for that. He nursed me, he covered me with blankets, brought me cups of water and soda, put balm on my lips and moisturizer on my face, and assured me that I didn't smell when I'm sure I did. He really is the sweetest man ever, and I am truly lucky.
Secondly, and here is where the girly part of me jumps and clicks her heals....I lost 7 pounds in one day! Seven! I'm sure some of that was pure dehydration as I couldn't even hold down a sip of water and I'm sure some of it will come back. However, seeing the scale down seven ticks has inspired me to be more careful of what I'm eating (that, and thinking that I had food poisoning has somewhat put me off food for now). So I'm taking a day of misery and parlaying it into a reason to eat better. Not a bad deal, really. Except for all of that pesky throwing-up. Yuck.
Third - I spent two whole days in bed! Well, the better part of the first was spent in the bathroom, followed immediately by being in bed. Why is this a good thing? Well, those of you who know me know that I burn the candle at both ends. I have a full-time job, and have a small business one the side that has (fortunately!) turned into a full-time endeavor. It's not unusual that my days are 12 or more hours long, plus I like to have a life outside of work! So I usually go go go until I crash. One of my New Year's Resolutions was to take Sundays completely off (so far, so good!), but before, it was not unusual for me to work 7 days a week. So, being forced to lay around after being sick was a good thing. The bigger battle in my head is usually feeling guilty for laying around, but I reasoned with myself that since I was sick it was BEST if I relaxed and rested. Good stuff.
So, there you go, nice things to say about a stomach bug. I just hope that none of you have the unfortunate experience of getting that same bug. Stay well, friends!

Cozy Bedroom
There is something so cozy and wonderful about this bedroom. I particularly love the bookcases. The last frontier (ok, not exactly the last, but the next...) in decorating our house is doing something to our bedroom, and I'm really loving the idea of giant bookcases at the foot of our bed. I would love to have a fireplace there too, but alas, I will probably have to settle for putting a flat screen on the wall as we both also love to watch TV in bed. Do you watch TV in bed? I especially love watching my Tivo'd shows in bed!
On another note, sorry for the long delay and silence, but I was away realllly enjoying the holidays! I have pictures and stories to share, but that means I have to download the pictures from my phone, so I'll get to that later this week.
Meantime, happy Tuesday!
